Muddled Strawberry Margarita with a Sugar Encrusted rim, Fresh Lemon and Agave Syrup

IMG_2675.jpg

This fresh fruit margarita was enjoyed by us recently on Cinco de Mayo in Waco, Texas at a wonderful restaurant called Hecho in Waco. A creative, authentic Tex-Mex Restaurant and the best one in Waco. Forget all of the heavy sugar laden, pre-mixed margarita mixes full of preservatives, when just a simple agave syrup mixed with fresh lemon juice and muddled strawberries will do. The sugar encrusted rim adds another layer of flavor.

Ingredients:

1 cup strawberries, quartered

1 cup fresh lemon juiee

¼ cup agave syrup

½ cup good Silver Tequila

¼ cup Grand Marnier

Sugar for Rim

Directions:

  1. Muddle the strawberries in a pitcher or large cocktail shaker.

  2. Add the lemon juice, agave syrup, tequila and Grand Marnier. Add a few ice cubes. Whisk or shake vigorously.

  3. Run a lemon wedge along the rim of your glasses. Dip in sugar.

  4. Add ice cubes to two large glasses or to four small glasses. Pour cocktail mixture into glass over ice.

  5. Serve!
