Refreshing Butterfly Pea Water, Full of Antioxidants
Here I have added mint leaves and peony flowers. The bright pink petals of the peony have no flavor, but impart a beautiful vibrant pink color. The mint leaves add a slight flavor. The glasses show the different hues of Butterfly Pea. The Blue glass is just the infusion the flower into the water. The water turned lavender when a lemon was added. Any acidic addition will turn the water purple.
Butterfly Pea flowers lend their vibrant, blue color to anything they are added to with no added flavor. However, they do add a benefit, they are full of antioxidants. When anything acidic is added, like lemon, lime, fruit or tonic water, it turns a beautiful lavender color before your eyes. Great for entertaining. If diluted to a light blue color, add a lemon and it will turn a light pink. Perfect for a baby shower when announcing whether it is a girl or boy.
The health benefits of water infused with Butterly Pea flower are indisputable. It is said to actually work miracles on the Central Nervous System, helping one to remain calm, to sleep well and it also fights depression.
It has no flavor, its just beautiful. It is also said to have scientific properties that fight cancer. Researchers are presently investigating all the health benefits. One thing is for sure, it is good for you.
Directions:
Remove the flowers. Remove the green from the bottom of the flower. Bring water to a boil. Add the flowers, simmer for 5 minutes. Chill. That’s it!
In the following pictures, I have picked the old dead flowers. I removed the green bottom and used these so I could enjoy the fresh flowers until they died. The old flower buds worked perfectly.
Add Edible Flowers to add to the beauty. Rose petals work beautifully. Make sure they are organic and not sprayed with pesticides'.
